Q: Follow up on a previous question, baby meauring behind and slow heart rate

We had a scan last week at 6+3 and they said I was measuring 5+1 and could see a hb but couldn't measure it..
Had another scan today at 7+0 and they ultrasonographer wasnt prepared to attempt to measure baby cause it's so small.. But the could measure they hb which was 43bpm..
I don't know if we're going backwards or forward...
43bpm seems extremely slow... But is that normal for a bub only measuring about 2mm?

Thanks girls.. The first was done at a specialist ultrasound place the second was at the hospital pregnancy clinic so I'm wondering if their machine wasn't as good.. Bub only measure 1.6mm on first scan so on second scan the lady pretty much said she would just be guessing.. But hb was much stronger..
Weve kinda accepted that bub isn't gonna make it... Can't believe we've lost two babies in two months..

At 7weeks they should be able to measure the baby....and since your dates are spot-on with the IVF, something isn't right here. Is this the doctors office you are going to? Or an ultrasound facility? If you're only going to the infertility office, I would ask to be seen at an ultrasound specialist who has better equipment.

At our fertility doctor last year, the nurse was doing our early ultrasounds (she did not have a license to be diagnosing our ultrasound) and told us we had a twin....empty sac. After about 2 weeks, that "empty sac" pushed in to the baby's gestational sac and caused fetal demise. The "empty sac" was a blood clot (subchorionic hematoma) and the nurse didn't know any better. They had crappy machines too....and when I was referred to a better facility, they knew right away the "empty sac" was not a twin.

So, make sure you're getting a good ultrasound. All the best to you.

They measured last week but not this week? I am glad baby has a heartbeat-it is slow, but what did they say? When do you go back again? Sending good thoughts your way.

When I went to get my ultrasound last Thursday I was 6w3d pregnant but the fetus was only measuring at 5w6d. My doctor said it was normal and sometimes it takes time for the fetus to catch up in the first trimester. Once we get to the second trimester everything will start adding up to where the babies should be.
