Q: Anterior Placenta And Funneling Cervix

So I was diagnosed with placenta previa a month ago. I went back today for my u/s & now it has moved so its not covering the cervix but its anterior. That's not my biggest concern. They did a TV u/s today & apparently my cervix is funneling. She said where the baby comes out is nice & long but right above that it is funneling. I'm extremely nervous since this hasn't happened in my other 3 pregnancies. Has anyone else experienced this? If so was there anything to do that can "fix" it? I'm one scared mommy :(

My Dr didn't put me on bed rest yet but I go back in 2 weeks for another U/S. I have been on pelvic rest due to placenta previa for over a month now. Maybe it was very slight & she didn't feel the need for bed rest yet? Who knows. It just scared me, I'm hoping in 2 weeks to get some much needed GOOD news. Thanks for the response. I'll definitely look into it.

Everything i've ever read about funneling says a cerclage is a good idea, at the very least, usually with bedrest too. Some women on other sites have written that they were given a shot of something every week that helped it reverse as well. Most of them had a cerclage in place by then. Check out the Baby Center forum and do a search for funneling. There are a lot of posts from women that have experienced this. They may have more info for you. Sounds like you should be pushing your dr to do a cerclage though, from what i've read. Good luck!
