Q: 22 weeks, weight gain?

Before I got pregnant I weighed 121 pounds. I really don't eat that much, I crave sweets now and then but who doesn't! I'm now almost 23 weeks and I weigh 139 pounds. I feel like that's a little high for this stage of pregnancy, right? I don't know what to do I just keep gaining weight at such a fast past :(

with my first i started at 135lbs and by the time i had her i was a whooping 180lbs. that weight flunctuated throughout the last 5 years and when i got married i gained alot of it back (soooo not happy about that) and so at the begining of this pregnancy i was a175lbs and im getting ready to hit 7 weeks and last time i weighed myself i gained about 8lbs. so ask your dr about your weight gain and see what they say.

I was 116/117 and at 33 weeks I'm at 146! My first Iwas out of control and gained over 70 and I think I'm doing slightly better this time than my last but I still gain too much. First trimester I gained 12 lbs. i don't think you are doing bad with it and remember in second trimester you are supposed to gain like 12 lbs. ;). It's hard to feel this way when pregnant but I think you are doing just fine ;)

I honestly wouldn't be too concerned with that amount, given that you started out small. If it makes you feel any better, I asked my midwife last week (at 20 weeks) if my gain was ok for my size and she said it was fine. I'm much larger than you to begin with and have put on about the same amount.

Of course; every woman is different and every pregnancy is different.

Water is always going to help your body flush out what it doesn't need, but make you feel bloated and bigger. So you could find some of those lbs are actually just bloat from water intake. I agree with jennavee's last sentence; if they're not worried, you shouldn't worry (plus that's not a good state of mind to be in!) <3

If you are underweight/small to begin with, you will likely gain more weight. I was not careful about my diet with my first pregnancy and gained almost 60 pounds. I lost 40 in the following year, but now I'm pregnant again! I'm being careful this time (not dieting) by making sure I eat really healthy, drink water, and do light exercise *almost* daily!

Ask your care provider about your weight gain. If they aren't concerned, try not to stress about it!

We don't just gain fat during pregnancy. The baby gets bigger, the placenta, our blood volume increases, our breasts get bigger. So it's not all fat. This article should help! http://www.countdownmypregnancy.com/pregnancy/weightgain.php
I weighed 115 lbs before I got pregnant. At the end of my pregnancy I weighed a total of 169 lbs. It felt like I was gaining weight at a fast pace also. Hang in there! <3

I think it's important that you begin to watch your weight. In my last pregnancy I gained almost 55 lbs and it was terrible! I was so swollen I could not even walk. I couldn't have a natural birth and had to have a csection. It took me nearly 2 years to return to my original weight. Just try to eat more healthy, drink lots of water and avoid sweets, chocolates and junk food.

Good luck!
