I most definitely recommend it-a high percentage of babies ccontact the whopping cough from the parents and if you have never seen a small baby with whooping cough I suggest you google it. not sure where you are but here they give the mothers the shot while ij hospital

We've debated this and for us the concern is the mercury they put in the shots so I opted out. I'll talk to hubby more about it but we also didn't get the flu shot this year. Not sure if we are making the right decision or not just trying to avoid the other things they put in the shots.

My doc will do the pertussis vaccine after 36 weeks. Definitely talk with your OB before having it done at a pharmacy or walk-in.

I was the same as Lou 85. Had mine in dec, my arm hurt for days, got a slight cough (more than likely coincidence). But it's better to get the vaccine than baby to get whopping cough! My sister had it when she was a baby (36 years ago) and my mum said it was one of the worst things ever.

Had mine done last week. It was fine bit of a dead arm and slightly sore for a couple of days, but on a whole I believe the jab is the right thing to do especially with the whooping cough in infants have raised. Xx

A lot of doctors recommend all care-givers of an infant (parents, grandparents, babysitters, etc) get vaccinated to create a "cocoon effect" of vaccinated people around the infant. Some studies are showing this is not effective because vaccinated adults can be "silent carriers" and still transmit the disease without knowing they have it in the time after getting the vaccine.
It's worth doing some research on so you can make the decision that's best for your family and your baby.

I had it just there on wed n alls fine, my arm is just a little achey since then but totally worth it with the rise in babies getting whooping cough and babies can get really ill and even die from it x

It's completely fine, I got it done in December. This time of year is esp important to have it done the baby will have a better chance if it contracts whooping cough after baby is born. My aunt and my sister in law also had it done and they were all fine. You will have a dead arm after it, my dead arm lasted nearly 4 days was hard to sleep as it was done on my right arm.

The injection is perfectly fine and won't harm the baby
