Q: Anyone plan on making their own baby food? Or have you ever made it? Easy or not?

There are so many mixed reviews on that Baby Bullet...I'd like to try to make my own baby food, but know I'll end up buying it down the line at some point. Didn't know if any other moms want to try it or have before?

Yay or nay?

I make baby food for my son just using a standard blender. We started out with gerber stuff so we could use those handy little plastic containers with lids. He'll eat anything now!

My sister in law bought us a vitamix for Christmas and I totally plan on making my own, I'm really excited to try. I'm praying that it means we'll get a baby who actually likes veggies... I can't live with another man who won't eat anything but honking slabs of meat (I was vegetarian for 10 years before I met my husband, it's been interesting to be married to the world's pickiest carnivore!). Good luck!

Well with my first two I ended up using a regular, older than Christ blender so as far as making baby food you can use anything. Last year I invested in a Vitamix which I use numerous times a day but it's expensive yet worth it for us. It's how I get all my fruits and veggies in my special needs son. I don't know anything about the baby bullet just wanted to comment on the simplicity of making baby food in general ;).

I made my own....DS loves food lol! First foods were easy (carrots, peas, sweet potatoes, etc). When we got in to meats and stuff I'd mix a little milk with things like baked chicken to make it easier for him to eat. After he got used to eating (7 or 8 months) he just ate what we ate in mashed up form. I did use a few store-bought foods when we were traveling though.
Definitely cheaper, definitely healthier!

I did it with my son and it was great. I will say I burned out the baby bullet though. I just bought a ninja so I can do more with it besides just baby food.

Complete yay! I did it with my son (now 15m) and will do it with the twins I'm carrying now! It's a lot cheaper, you know exactly what your babe is eating (no added preservatives, additives, etc). I tried my little guy on basically everything and theres not a whole lot he won't eat!! I totally advise it :)

Yay yay yay! I did with my first & plan on doing it again with #2! It was so easy & a lot of fun. You can control the ingredients, seasoning, etc etc. Studies show that babies who are fed homemade baby food aren't nearly as picky eaters when they get older & I tend to agree. My 2.5 year olds favorite foods are fruit, salmon, & pesto. I recommend getting some baby food cook books bc they provide all kinds of easy recipes with different food combinations that we wouldn't think of but babies love. I really loved "the wholesome baby food guide" by Maggie Meade. It starts with basic purees & goes to toddler finger foods - like homemade chicken nuggets. Easy to make, freeze, & pull out when needed!
