Q: What are sharp stabbing pains in vaginal area?

Im 36 weeks and 6 days, having sharp stabbing pains that radiate to my butt and they just catch me off guard sometimes. Could this be related to effacement/dilation?

I remember having those lightening shock sensations around this same time in my pregnancy. Not sure what the heck it was but....my baby is perfectly healthy and I had a decent labor/birth.....so youre not alone, but dont worry about it being something negative.
