Thanks for all the suggestions, ladies! All good answers! I did register for a Diaper Genie, but do keep wondering to myself it I'll use it or not, because I hear people say they never did all the time. Steph, I've never heard of Arm & Hammer making a diaper pail. I'll look into that. I have definitely registered for a bunch of little onesies/sleevless bodysuit/outfits, especially since we live in the SOUTH, and it's going to be the dead of summer, it gets VERY humid and hot here. Ugh! I did know about the different types of flow nipples, so I made sure to put the different ones on there. Someone gave me a swing, practically brand new, so I won't be out that money if it doesn't get used or she doesn't like it. Everyone I've talked to said that their bouncer was a life saver and I bought one a few months ago with a coupon that Babies R Us sent me. So.. looks like I just need to stock up on some more Size 1 diapers and pray I get a bunch of receiving blankets! Lol!

Just wanted to put input in on the dirty diper situation. They have bags that are scented that are for diapers and you can put in the regular trash to minimize the smell. That's what I used for my daughter first time around as I wasn't sure I wanted a genie and turns out I didn't need it! I breastfed her and didn't have a lot of crazy smelling baby diapers until I introduced soils.

I had a baby brother growing up, so I remember a lot of stuff from my mom and him. I don't see any reason why we can't just toss the dirty diapers in a Wal-mart back and tie it up and throw it in the regular trash.

That's what we do with poopy diapers. Until they start solids, and esp if you bf, it has little odor. And you have so much trash with kids, you empty the trash can all the time. Also, in place of a lot of burp cloths, I bought a huge stack of wash cloths from Wal Mart for $5. My babies had/have reflux, so I go through 10-15 of those a DAY. That's something to keep in mind, esp if you have a baby with reflux (50% of newborns have it to some extent).

I agree with getting lots of receiving blankets! We have about 20 and use them up every few days!
Halo sleep sacks! I didnt register for enough....needed about 4 to 5. Swaddle Me blankets too...with velcro. Those are awesome.

We got a diaper genie and still use it. I can't recommend it though. It broke after like 4 months, so the interior part doesn't close all the way and it only partially helps contain the smell. Also, the refills are expensive and I hate buying them. We're kind of transitioned to just putting dirty diapers in the genie and using a regular trash can for the wet diapers.

Okay....here is what I wish I did prior to giving birth...
Wish I would have done or gotten.....
1. A brazillian wax! Oh I hated shaving from weeks 35 and on!
2. Bought a crap load of size 1 diapers. These are the ones the baby has stayed in since the first week. They are 8-12 pounds....and our 8 week old is still at 11 pounds....so we will probably use size 1 diapers for a total of 12 weeks at this rate! We didnt stock up on size 1.....oh well!
3. Registered for an activity mat....ended up going out and buying one.
4. Picked up a baby carrier before baby was born....got a $100 dollar baby carrier for $8 bucks at a baby thrift shop....barely ever used!!
Thats all I can think of for now! :)

I love my Arm and Hammer diaper pail and the refills are extremely easy to use and contain the smell well. My DD is 21 months and I still use it and will with this baby too.
I should have registered for more bottles and different types of nipples. Apparently I didn't realize that there were differences in the nipples until after she was born! I also didn't register for an insulated bottle holder, but I ended up needing one.
The pointless item I got was a bottle warmer. Never used it, but my nephew needed it and they used it constantly so I ended up giving it to them. My DD never liked her swing, so I ended up giving that to someone also.
