Q: My counts going up 50% every 3-4 days, not doubling. Been told for 2 weeks I might/should miscarry.

Anyone ever had a really low rise in their HcG? Mine has never gone down, but the increase is really low. (2399, 3125,... 6125, 9324, 13594 - which instead of doubling is only increasing approx 50% each time) and these tests were done 3-4 days apart. Four doctors have told me to prepare for miscarriage and have said there's nothing they could give me (a nurse told me once progesterone would help). I've been spotting for 4 days now, only light pink though.. and I've had occasional cramps that one time they even said I was miscarrying then. Only to have an ultrasound later that day and we were shocked to see the baby and heartbeat for the first time. I'm between 7.5 - 8 weeks now and have my next ultrasound on Friday. Any stories, good or bad would help!

I had that happen to me. My HcG levels where rising, but not doubling. Spotting, but not bleeding. Started at 6 weeks. At 9 weeks I finally miscarried.

I pray this isn't your case and hope seeing the heartbeat means everything is ok. They never saw a heartbeat with mine.

First of all, let me begin by saying I wish you the best of luck. After all, you know what they say, every pregnancy is different. That said, I hate to be a bearer of bad news, but I was in a similar situation, & did end up miscarrying. I think it's with your best interest in mind that your docs are telling you to prepare for the worse. I saw my baby's heart beat at 8 week appt, but he was measuring small. My docs told me everything was fine, & not to worry & that my dates were just off. 2 weeks later, light spotting, went for a u/s, & our little bean no longer had a heart beat. Subsequently, I had light/medium spotting for the next 2 months and nothing more than very light, infrequent cramps. After 2 months, I had the "true" miscarriage, with the pain and the heavy bleeding. The point I am trying to make is that not all miscarriages happen the same way, which is probably why your docs are being cautious. Wishing you all the best & hoping that this turns

Thank you to both of you for answering.. I cried of happiness and relief when they saw the heartbeat. To be honest, I had the mother's instinct during my first pregnancy (spotted once and knew it would be ok), and have a beautiful daughter today. This time, the doctor's have been so up and down that my head is spinning and my instincts are out of whack. It's been two weeks of them telling my in detail what to expect when the miscarriage begins, to telling me that they're all "baffled" that they saw the heartbeat, to once again telling me this week to prepare for the worst at Friday's ultrasound. I still hung onto hope through it all, but just to protect my heart from more upset I'm trying to remain realistic and therefore not sure what's denial and what's gut feeling any more. TMI alert: I had more cramps yesterday and had 2 bright red tiny pieces when I wiped last night. Since yesterday, every time I go to the washroom pink discharge goes into the toilet.

Its a good sign theres a heartbeat. And "spotting" isn't unheard of in early pregnancy. I had brown spotting at 6/8/14 weeks and my baby is all good. It just happens to some women.
To be honest you will have a "mothers" instinct as to what is going on with your body and baby, so trust yourself.
If bleeding gets heavy and you are doubled over in pain then there is cause for concern, but spotting doesn't necessarily mean you are having (or expected to) have a miscarriage. I say put your feet up and relax. Good Luck!

Not 100% positive about the doubeling situation but a heartbeat is a good sign my sister in law bled terribly with her second at 6 weeks and was told she had lost the baby then she was scheduled for a D&C but wanted another ultrasound first so they did one two days before the D&C and there was a heart beat and she now has a healthy 2 year old boy. Try not to stress think of the positives
