I will be going for my gender scan on saturday at 16+3 and I am terrified of being told it is too soon to find out the gender. But just like Daisymai said, the doc told me they will be able to tell easily unless the baby is in a difficult position. I am so eager to find out the gender

I got my scan with an elective 3D/4D center at exactly 17 weeks. On their website, it said that anytime after 16 weeks was a good time to come in. She was very uncooperative at first, but after about 20 minutes and emptying my bladder, we got a definite "hamburger" shot. She got a few more good potty shots, and she's been confirmed a girl at two different ultrasound scans. The genitals are formed at 16 weeks, so unless the baby isn't letting you get a good peek, you should be able to tell this early.
Good luck! :)

I went for mine at 18w3d (so not thaaaat much later than yours) and the tech had absolutely no issue determining the gender. She was quite confident in what she saw and it only took a quick peek on her part (like maybe 5 seconds).

It's not too soon at all...the other ladies are right...if baby co-operates. We found out the gender at 16+2 and it was a girl. She moved around a lot which made it so difficult to see. But the sonographer was sure it's a girl. Then we confirmed at our anatomy scan with my back-up gynae at 21weeks and sure enough. ..a girl.
