Q: Hide and Seek of HCG level. PCOD ! Pls suggest ...

Im under the treatment of PCOS for last 8 months. reduced almost 9 kgs of weight. I was on clomid for got trigger shot and successfully ovulated on DPO 13-14 that was 21-22 Feb'15. I missed my periods on date of period. Just got little bleeding on 11th and 12th March. My gyn as she told to go for Beta HCG. My first report came with 49.8 HCG at around week 4, indeed very low as compared to the ideal amount. My gyny suspected Chemical Pregnancy and put me on Progesterone supplements and Bed rest. After 48 hours HCG at 1. But her gut feeling was saying tht im pregnant and she said in PCOD hormones hv eratic behaviour. She again ask for HCG after 48 hrs. It was 28.8, She did TVS after a day but she couldn't see anything there and ET was thin. So we put me off from progesterone supplements and toldme to wait and watch..whether AF shows her face or not. If not than after a week she will again scan and see.

Pls help me to see this picture with little deeper insight.Having many symptoms.

I'm grateful to you for your reply cosmoholic. Thank a ton. I second ur thought about incorrect report becoz im also thinking the same. My doc got confused becoz of this only. She is suspecting of the Chemical Pregnancy here.. Thats why she has done ultrasound to see something there but unfortunately its nothing there. She put me off from supplements becoz she wana see whether AF comes or not. As per her.. If pregnancy is there than it would survive even without supplements but if its not there than AF shows up. Im really really really perplexed. Its CD 41 & i still don't know whether im pregnant or not. If 2weeks wait kill.. Than just think about this. 4 days off from progesterone and no AF till now. Im just praying, praying and praying!!

I would think that a mistake was made on at least one of your draws... I don't think HCG go up and down like that.

I don't personally have PCOS but have several friends who do. For them, it made determining how far along they were very difficult at the beginning due to their irregular cycles. I have also heard that for some women with PCOS their levels of HCG rise a lot slower in early pregnancy compared to women without PCOS.

Not sure why they would take you off the progesterone supplements - If I were you I'd ask to continue them until you get a definitive answer either way as to what's going on AND ask for another set of blood work to see if your HCG levels are going up or down.
