Q: Progesterone

I was wondering if anyone had any Progesterone issues and when they came off the med. I am almost 14 weeks (tuesday) and i'm so scared to stop my progesterone(doc says stop at 14 weeks ). How do you know if the placenta has taken over? Would i lose the baby stopping it? I've read some on people losing the baby after stopping but had to be something wrong with the babies maybe.... Any advice please

With my first pregnancy I stopped at 8 weeks, and with this pregnancy I stopped at 12 weeks. Nothing scary happened either time (but it's definitely something I worried about).

My dr said the placenta takes over at 11-12 weeks. If it hasn't taken over by 14 weeks, my guess is that would indicate there is something else wrong with the baby or placenta that can't really be fixed by progesterone supplementation. But that is just me trying to reason through it, I'm definitely not a medical professional!

The stories I've heard where people lose their baby after stopping progesterone are usually because the dr asked them to stop progesterone because the pregnancy was not viable.

Good luck to you! I think it will be ok :)

I was scared out of my mind of stopping progesterone after having 3 miscarriages. I was on both progesterone injections and suppositories. I stopped injections at 11 weeks and was told I could stop suppositories too but I just used up what I had which got me to 14 weeks. Everything was perfectly fine! I had no problems at all the rest of my pregnancy and had a beautiful full term daughter.
