Q: Even though I ovulated this month can stress cause me to skip this period ?

I had my last period on May 21. My expected period was suppose to be June 19. I had sex May 9 and got my heavy period which was 6 Days long on May 21. I took a hpt 5 weeks after sex and one on the day of my expected period and both were negative. I have not had sex at all in June. I been stressing a lot every since the ending of May and mostly all of June. I ovulated on June 5. Is it possible that I skipped this month period because of stress even though I ovulated or was it cause of pregnancy ?

I have heard the same thing as the last post on many occasions. Stress can delay O but not your period. If pregnancy tests are negative your cycle may just be screwed up.

If u did in fact O, then no, stress cannot delay af. The corpus luteum (leftover follicle the egg erupts from) can only sustain itself for a max of 16 days, without outside supplementation or a pregnancy. As previously stated, stress can mess up the hormones in charge of follicle growth and release, but once that egg pops, the countdown to af shouldn't vary more than +/- 1-2 days. How are u confirming when/if u actually O'd? I would assume all ur stressing in May has thrown off ur O date.
Good luck! Hopefully u get some answers soon! =))

my understanding is that stress can disrupt or delay ovulation, which, in turn, delays your period. however, if you are absolutely positive that you ovulated, your period shouldn't be late.

Yes stress can cause a missed or late period. It has happened to me plenty of times before I got pregnant. Wait a few more days if nothing take another test. If its still negative just wait. If you are too worried than get blood work done.

Yes, it can. When hubby and I (boyfriend at the time) had unprotected sex for the first time, I had been traveling to Germany for work and didn't get my period. Thought I might be preggo but negative test. I was waiting for period to get on BC at the time. Never happened because the next cycle after that I conceived (whoops). So yes it can happen because we were busting out butts working 14 hour days and traveling and I normally don't skip cycles.

Do you always have a 14/28 day cycle? If a test was negative on the day of your expected period then chances are you aren't pregnant, but if you period doesn't come I would take another one in a couple of days.
