Q: 5 week ultrasound

I have a history of ectopic pregnancy and I'm currently 5w6d into my current pregnancy. I had some cramping and brownish discharge around the 5 week mark and I called the dr. I had follow up labs and there were prefect but she decided she wanted an ultrasound. I had that yesterday. She could see what she thought was a sac in the uterus but nothing definitive in it. She said at this point she couldn't rule out an ectopic bc I'm just not far enough along for her to make a conclusion. Basically I'm more confused and worried than I was before.

Anyone else have this happen? How did it turn out?

Try not too worry too much. I had the same thing and am still getting brown spotting on and off and I am 7w4d and all is ok. My dr scared me at the beginning by setting me up for a loss as went I got my first beta back ot was only 57 but it now turns out i as only 3w3d when it was taken but now 4 weeks later my little bean is strong and growing. Keep postive and staying smiling.

My OB wouldn't do a u/s when I was 5 weeks because he said he wouldn't be able to see anything but a empty sac...too early for baby to be seen. Since I have had m/c before he didn't want me to jump to conclusions and freak out. BUT I do know that at that early they can tell if the sac is in the uterus where it belongs or in the tubes. If the u/s tech saw it in the uterus I am not sure why they would tell you it still could be ectopic. That doesn't make sense. I hope they get it worked out soon for your peace of mind!

I had very good labs and spotting at 6 weeks which now went away. I am 8 weeks and things are good! Best wishes to you! :)

I had an u/s at 6 weeks (based on LMP) and all they saw was an empty sac. Three weeks later an u/s showed a healthy baby. They said I was a week earlier than I thought, which is why they didn't see anything in the first one. I certainly hope this is the case for you as well. Good luck:)
