I have PCOS and got pregnant after 14 months of trying, but had a miscarriage. Then, my doc prescribed Femara. It will bring on ovulation, and often "super ovulation" where the egg is VERY fertile and it becomes very easy to get pregnant. I got pregnant on our first month trying it. I know another woman who had SEVERAL miscarriages, but on her first cycle with Femara, became pregnant and her pregnancy is picture perfect so far. My sister-in-law as well as a very good friend of mine are both going on the drug this month and I expect great results for them as well. We all have PCOS. Clomid is a similar drug, but it takes a while to find the right dosage and has side effects. Femara dosage is pretty universal and I had no side effects at all. Tell her to request info on it ASAP. Good luck!

took me 12 months to conceive and i do not have anything wrong that would cause me difficulty. 1 year is considered "average".

I have PCOS and I got pregnant the first time and miscarried, and then got pregnant again a few months after. It really depends on the person. I have periods but mine are SUPER irregular and I ovulate 2 months after my period. So it is kinda a guessing game. There is a pill that can help regulate periods and it is called Metformin. It is used for diabetics but what it is for is lowering your blood sugar so your ovaries can work better and you can ovulate and have periods. Because women with PCOS have higher blood sugar levels usually. Tell her to ask her doctor about Metformin. It is worth a try and less expenive than a fertility doctor. If the Metformin does not work then I would try the fertility specialist.

I have PCOS and it took me 2 years to get pregnant. I would suggest that your sister-in-law see a fertility specialist because she is probably not ovulating since there is no period. I was given drugs to get me my period because the same thing happened to me where I did not get a period after being off of the pill. Then once I got my period, they gave me fertility drugs to stimulate ovulation. It took awhile to find the right dosage and medication that would work for me but I got pregnant as soon as they figured it out.

It could very well be, but she is still not out of the 'normal range'. Typically doctors say that it can take a healthy couple up to a year to get pregnant. If she has concerns, I would tell her to see her gyno or a fertility specialist.
