Q: Is diarrhea a sign that labor is close?

I'm 37 + 1, was constipated up until today morning! Woke up to having a loose stool right out of bed. No fever, vomiting/nausea or anything that would indicate it's a tummy bug and didn't eat anything that would cause food poising or a stomach bug, just diarrhea which I haven't had since before being pregnant. Read a lot about women saying how it was a sign of labor for them since your body clears itself out before birth, is it really true? Did this happen to you and how long before labor actually kicked in/contractions started? FTM and having cramping at times, lower back pain and just wondering if this might be a sign.

hi, yes, diarrhea is an indicative sign of labor in many women. You might have to walk in at any point of time, now. So be prepared. Keep your labor suitcase ready.

37 weeks, you are full term and can go at any time. If you really arent sure, you can always call the nurse line they have and ask - I had to when I was close with my daughter because it was so different from my older childrens labors. Good luck with everything!

Yeah it is, I'll get it maybe starting a couple of days ahead of time or the day of but for me the real sign was my mucus plug or bloody show (when it was my first time). Hopefully being only 37 weeks your little one still has time to finish getting ready :). Good luck!
