Called midwife....going to the ER
By Bostonmama08 » Posted Jul. 13, 2013 11:48am - 294 views - 6 comments

I am feeling very weak, tired, feverish and unable to really do much but sit/lay around...so I called my midwife and she recommended me to go to the ER to have a CBC blood draw as well as checks for blood sugar and thyroid levels.

The thing is, over a month ago, my thyroid level was extremely low...at 5.3 (high numbers mean the opposite with the thyroid) and my endocrinologist put me on a higher dose of Synthroid (I went from 112mcg to 137mcg). I just don't know what is going on.....and all of my symptoms point to low thyroid levels.

I'll update later when I get home...........

Glad you went and got checked out! Hope everything comes back ok or they can get you on some meds to feel better. At least if it's not your thyroid it's a sign that you are making a baby in there! As much as it sucks to be so tired! Keep us posted!

Im at 12 weeks now and i was just starting to feel better before i came down with this awful illness. I've been so sick for 2 weeks now! I haven't even been able to drive because i'm so short of breath from the horrible cough. I went to the ER in the beginning, and they treated me like a huge hypochondriac. Assholes... I have asthma so it's gotten really bad since. I even saw my regular dr and he put me on antibiotics, but i dont think are doing anything. I think i may have had the flu. I have a prenatal app monday, and my regular dr is my OB, so im going to have him check out my lungs again. I just want to feel better! Just giving my 2 year old a bath is exhausting because i cant breathe. I've never been this sick while pregnant! It sucks! :-(

Thanks KM...I'm hoping they are the culprit because that is fixable! If not, I am in for a treat for the next 5-6 weeks.....*whew*

Low thyroid levels can really be a bitch during pregnancy! It can really make feel awful. Hopefully they can get it ironed out and you'll feel so much better. Keep up on your fluids too!

Just got home from the ER....all my bloods, blood pressure checks and even an EKG came back normal. The only test they couldn't get back right away was the thyroid. That I have to wait until Monday. The ER doctor (who was a woman) said that being dizzy, feeling super tired and fatigued is normal in early pregnancy because our body is working hard to create the baby. She also attributed it to my thyroid levels....which could be off still from my thyroid check almost 1.5 months ago. If I am low still on my TSH....I could be feeling extra extra tired between that and the baby.

So....the prognosis....I have to just push through this and get as much rest as I can until the 10th-12th week....which she said seems to be the light at the end of the tunnel for most pregnant women!
