No progress?? Come on!!!

I had my 37 week check-up this morning (7am....YAWN!!) and I am still roughly 1-2cm and 50% effaced. AHH!! I was really hoping for at least a little more thinning out....maybe 1-2cm more dilated! I'm exhausted, can't sleep, contract all the time (which wakes me up when I do happen to even sleep for 15 minutes), can't fit in to most of my clothes (and I'm not buying new ones this late in the game!), am moody/emotional/irrational. Good grief.
On the flip side....I can NOT believe that I'm almost 38 weeks with not a lot of progress towards labor when this entire pregnancy I have been praying to just "make it one more day". All the crying, the bleeding, the unknown. It's so surreal to me....never thought I would make it to 24 weeks....let alone full term. I fully planned on NICU stays and treating a preterm micro-preemie at home after all was said and done. I had it in my mind that we'd have all these obstacles.....and maybe we should have just been grateful for one son, one child.....and not have pushed our luck with a second child after having 7 years of bad luck while TTC. I just sit here is awe of everything that has happened these last 9 months....
So....now my job is trying to cure some of this sleeplessness, the pain of these damn hemorrhoids (please witch hazel work!!) and installing the carseat......well, getting my husband to install the carseat!
