Going from 3 kids to 4...CRAZY!!!

Okay so I knew adding a baby on top of three small kids would be rough but holy cow I really under estimated how hard things would be. I know if I wasn't trying to give him breastmilk life would be easier but since he's my last I really wanted to make it work this time. I mostly just pump and give him a bottle now because he was nursing for an hour and then 30 mins to an hour later was wanting to nurse again and it left me with zero time and frustration. At least now my dh can give him a bottle when he's home so I can get stuff done or spend time with the other kids but pumping is still very time consuming and restrictive. It has helped me to lose all the baby plus an extra 4lbs so far so I'm estatic about that! I have finally been able to start going to the gym again although I don't get to go like I use to it's still great to have that hour to do something for myself that makes me feel good. Kids have adjusted well to the baby and hopefully things will get easier before long. We are trying to start the process of buying a home and I'm so excited but also stressed about everything that has to be done and then thinking about moving with my time so consumed with the baby really stresses me out! I know everything will work out though and I just have to stay calm. Declan is getting so big and amazes me every day. He's almost 12 weeks old and is around 11 1/2lbs. Loves to smile at his big brothers and loves cartoons lol.

Thanks snolie14! Congrats on your new little one! Thanks for all the tips calvingirl and congrats on number 6 that's amazing! I've been on a nursing blend since the day I had him and I can pump 26-30ozs every 24hrs right now. I love nursing him but I have to do what works best right now. I'm hoping to give him breast milk for at least 6 months but a year would be great!

Congrats on four kids and congrats on committing to the breast milk. Do what works for you and your family, but if you find your supply going down, hook him on direct :) Babies suckling are what increases your supply - the pump is only 20% effective, so a lot of pumping moms find their supply goes down. Easily fixed though - let him nurse a lot one day and 24 hrs later, you'll have more milk. Good luck and enjoy this baby time! I'm pregnant with my last too, and it will be #6!

Awww! I had my 4th in December...but my older boys are at least 8.5 years older, so they help out a TON! I too am breastfeeding but I haven't pumped much...I found the milk-saver on mymilkies.com and that helped me store milk for going back to work. Hunter literally could eat from breast to breast all day long...if I let him. I'm back to work (thank God) now finally and pumping at work...at least I am pumping exactly what he is eating at the sitters...so it's working out great!

4 kids are amazing! Congrats to you!
