47 Days to Go!

I had my 33 week appointment today. There wasn’t much to do since I’m done testing and they won't check my cervix yet. I’m not dehydrated, my blood pressure is good, and my midwife says my weight gain is fine. Caroline seems to have slowed her growth a bit. Where she had been consistently measuring 2 weeks ahead, she’s only a week and a half ahead right now. She’s definitely going to be bigger than Bash was. He was only 7lbs 5oz at 41 weeks so there’s plenty of room for growth with no call to worry about my lady parts. But she’s head up. I have time for her to turn on her own but, at the rate she’s growing, they want to keep an eye on it. She even referred me to a chiropractor for a thing called the Webster method to help babies turn and it’ll also help my back. If insurance will cover it, I’m totally down. I’m one of those lucky people who doesn’t suffer regular back aches of any kind so this is totally foreign to me and makes me cranky. But I get a week off and then it’s back on the 27th. That’ll be the start of my weekly visits.
Also, my baby shower is a week from Saturday. I’m getting excited! My midwife got her invitation today (we’re cousins, remember) and she says it’s beautiful. I haven’t seen it but she says it said something about sprinkling Caroline and I. In a picture Amber sent me, I distinctly saw a tear drop shape being cut out of construction paper so I’m guessing it’s a literal ‘shower’ theme. Cute, right? Though I teased her about it being tears for my long lost figure. Hah! I hope folks show up but I’d be happy alone with a cake begging to be eaten. ;-) I really do have some good people in my life and I like to celebrate them and their families so hopefully they return the favor. We have almost completed the baby furniture with the exception of the base of one table (he has to flip it over to get the bottom). I am so in love with the drawer pulls (took forever to find since they have apparently changed standard sizes over the last 60 years). They’re nickel and inlaid with little crystals! Now I just need to start laundering everything and putting it away. I don’t have much on the walls yet but, since she won’t be sleeping in there for a while, I have time. Plus, with the shower being in my nursery colors, I may find something among the decorations that might be cute. I’m also thinking a pennant garland from Etsy with her name on it. But I haven’t even started my hospital bag so hopefully I don’t go into labor early.
It’s nice to see my husband finally starting to take my condition seriously. I know I’m a military spouse and, as such, I’m pretty much Super Woman when it comes to taking care of every eventuality on my own but come on! He’s begun to worry about doing his cross-country flights each month and he’s neurotic about the state of our car in case I should go into labor suddenly. He carries my laundry basket up and down the stairs, is trying to make a habit of driving everywhere since I soon won’t be advised to, and has been pestering me less about being intimate (I just can’t, I’m so uncomfortable, which is totally unlike me). On that last note, we’re going to ease into bumping uglies (what my parents call it!) as a way of increasing my odds of bringing on labor more easily (once at first, twice at 35 weeks, 3 times at 36 weeks, etc.). I know it won’t help early on but I don’t want to just jump in suddenly at 38 weeks and be super uncomfortable. My luck it will take right away, she’ll be breech, small, and I won’t have a hospital bag packed… *Sigh* But congratulations to Summer on the birth of your precious baby girl Aleena! I’m so excited for you and your family!

Less than %0 days to go! That's crazy right? Your son is a cuties! I bet he is just going to be the best big brother ever. No one will mess with his little sister! I think a shower themed shower is such a cute idea! I picture little umbrellas and puffy clouds. How adorable. Have fun and eat an extra piece of cake...its the only time you can get away with it lol, I bet you get your figure back soon after, with two little ones to keep you busy!

I hope Miss Caroline turns for you soon! :) During my first pregnancy, the midwives at my office all told me (and my hubby) that if I was up for it, baby dancing could help start labor. My hubby was thrilled to hear that, haha! I hope you have fun at your shower, the theme sounds super cute and I would love to see pictures if you're willing to share!! :)

I am a firm believer that baby dancing helps bring on labor. I am tickled that you two have put a schedule together for it!! It's actually a great idea and I think I'm going to do the same. Although we BD pretty regularly. Have fun at your shower. I'm a bit jealous I'm not having one this go around but will have a sip and see after she is born. I hear you about the cake! I am heading to a shower this weekend for a friend who is due 2 weeks before me and all I can think about is the cake!! lol Sad! We're in the home stretch now girlfriend!! By the way your journal picture melts my heart.
