Caroline is Six Weeks Old!

I read somewhere that, at six weeks old, a newborn is no longer officially a newborn. It’s unofficial until six months, I believe, but I’m sad. It’s going by so quickly! This last week has been hard because Sebastian was so sick for a full week. Thankfully I kept pressing his pediatrician and we got the answer I knew was coming: It’s strep, again, for the fourth time. It sucks but he’s on antibiotics and finally better. There’s nothing worse than having one child whining for comfort and coughing with a 104° temperature while your baby is screaming to be held but you can’t put them together because you’re 90% sure the illness is contagious. And Daddy is working all week. *Sigh* But I survived, each child got their needs met, and I feel like I’m a better mother for it. Now we’re on our first Spring Break and we can get busy enjoying ourselves. He’s just relieved that he can kiss and hold his baby sister again. But she’s six weeks old! I had my postpartum appointment on Monday and was released by my doctor to get back to my regular life. I took my first bubble bath in a month and I can workout, though finding time is proving a bit tricky so far. Then Caroline had her hip ultrasound on Tuesday. She did great and the doctor says her hips are perfectly normal. Yay! We go back on the 24th for her two-month checkup. However, I am super tickled this morning because she is just smiling and making the sweetest cooing noises. Both have happened before but these are being done in succession so I know they’re intentional. Hopefully she’ll stay in a good mood while we take Sebastian to the bounce place to play and then to the grocery store. Tomorrow we’re going to Six Flags so I hope to get to ride a rollercoaster with my son for the very first time. At least we have a long weekend to enjoy as a family before he goes back to school on Monday.

Look at those shoes!!!! So cute! Sick kids are not fun especially when babies are involved. My husband and I are sick and both babies have a cold. It's a freakin' snot factory in my house. Thankfully though, your son is on the mend and you can have a blast this weekend!

Good news all around minus the strep, I'm glad that's been taken care of so you can get on with enjoying your long weekend!
