Caroline is Ten Weeks Old!

We have crossed over into the double digits. *Sniffle* And my son finishes his pre-k year in just two weeks. Life is so cruel sometimes… But, aside from growing too fast, we’re all doing well. I’m getting used to living without internet (I’m coming to you from my phone’s hotspot) and Sebastian is getting used to not having television on demand. It has been freeing and we are all getting so much more done. I have been on diet over a week now and I’m down over ten pounds, all while feeling much better and clearer headed. I had been happy about my progress until I went shopping for a dress to wear to a friend’s wedding next week. Ick! I managed to find a hot little number but being bear beneath those fluorescent lights in front of all those mirrors just showed me how far I still have to go. And, having hypothyroidism, it’s a total uphill climb. We have decided to reschedule our Disney trip for my birthday week with dinner in Cinderella’s castle for my special day meal. I’m so excited and I’d like to be another twenty pounds lighter by then. Doesn’t seem unreasonable to me… As for my sweet little Caroline, she is such a happy baby. Her brother was too so I’m relieved. She has had her first little chuckles, smiles constantly and loves to play. She still hates tummy time but I can see her getting stronger, which both thrills and saddens me. I cleaned out both kids’ clothes this week and she’s no longer in anything newborn, even shoes and headbands and my precious Sebastian is completely out of anything toddler (5T fit for a few minutes) while growing a second shoe size since Christmas! They’re going to be bigger than me before too long. Care is still exclusively breastfeeding, I am glad to say. I am grateful each time I feel my milk let down, even if it currently does feel like a strong current jolting thru my breasts. If it keeps up, I’m going to wait to introduce any kind of food until she’s six months old (it was four with Bash but science has now changed its opinion…) and slowly start weaning her to a bottle except at bedtime and during the night, the rest of the time I’ll pump. I’d like to do that until she’s a year old but, once she’s no longer constantly nursing, I have no idea how my supply will react. One step at a time, I suppose. In the meantime, we could really use some prayers on the job front. A new fulltime contractor position has opened at DeWayne’s base that they want to fill this month and he’s actually the most qualified for. It’s down between him and two others who have less experience and no degree (my husband has an associates) but the military is all about popularity. While he’s great at his job, he’s known for being a stickler for rules and a bit of a hard ass… The salary is almost twice what we made last year and he’d still have his reserves duties so he’d be able to work day shift, get all the holidays off and provide more easily for us so I can continue to be a stay-at-home mom. We could save for a new car and make our Disney trip truly memorable. Honestly, after years of paycheck to paycheck and constant sacrifices, we just need a break. Please keep us in your prayers, this would be a huge blessing straight from Heaven. But I hope all of you had an amazing Mother’s Day!
