When I scheduled my appointment for yesterday (14+1), I was told I'd get an ultrasound. Got there, was all excited to see my Meatball and then....no ultrasound and no ultrasound until 20 weeks. The nurse was a complete moron too. I was so sad that the NP I met with did a Doppler instead. Heartbeat steady and strong at 154.
They are referring me to Maternal Fetal Medicine at the hospital I'll be delivering at. Apparently, because I have a first cousin that was born with a heart defect, they feel it's necessary to keep a close eye on Meatball's ticker. I was nervous at first but now I'm good. There's zero reason for me to believe that something will be wrong.
After we left I MAY have cried a little because I was still so bummed out about not seeing Meatball. We spent the night looking at independent ultrasound labs that do gender scans and tests like Sneak Peek. We had decided to wait a week to see if we hear from MFM for our apt but Josh just called me and told me to schedule a private scan for next Friday!! WOOT!! He's the best. I can't wait. That Saturday we pick his brother up from the airport and we get to tell the rest of our family about Meatball. We'll pass the envelope containing the gender to Josh's best friend with money to buy supplies and then Christmas weekend, we will make things go BOOM and find out what we're having! This man spoils the shit out of me. <3 <3

 | Comment from sonata85 » Posted Dec. 1, 2017 12:12pm In my experience my OB only ordered ultrasounds in between the 12-ish week mark and 20 week anatomy scan unless there's a problem--so that's a good thing, even though I remember how disappointed I was to show up to my 16 week checkup and no ultrasound.
