First appointment

Had my first appointment with the midwife and an ultrasound.

They couldn't get a good image with the external, so I got to have the internal one... oh so much fun. Anyway, according to size, Pickle is measuring 7w5 days but they are going to keep my edd of 8/15 based on my last period.

Heart rate of 168. :-) My DD had a rate of 166 at my first appointment.

Since I last was there for prenatal care... all the midwives have moved on!! :-( That was the only reason I didn't follow my OB/GYN when he left... because I loved the midwives. Now I'm left with a bunch of doctors in the practice that I don't like and midwives that I don't know. :-( Not fun.

Also, since I will be 35 when Pickle is born... there is a chance I will be considered "high risk", but the midwife I saw today didn't want to put me in that category just yet. We've got some calls to make for genetic testing to see if our insurance will cover it... because there is one that is more accurate and we can wait until my birthday (in March) before having those tests done.

So... while my anxiety is still there... it is for different reasons. I am really getting scared about having a second now because right now I am so exhausted and my patience for my toddler is very low... and DH doesn't get that I WANT help sometimes... I don't always want to be the one taking her to the bathroom and doing things like that... sometimes all I want to do is sit and rest.... or curl up in bed and sleep. Fatigue hit me like a mack truck tonight and I didn't even really eat dinner I was so tired.

The only other thing cheering me up, is that one of my best friends had her first appointment and she is due 8/20. :-)

OH! And the midwife told me that since I was only in active labor for 4.5 hours with DD, to expect that long or less with the next... and she is advising me that when the time comes and I think I might be in labor to high tail it over to the Snuggery ASAP.... because I really don't want to be like the friend who gave birth in the back of her Kia in the hospital parking lot.....
