I do ultrasound for a living and the earlier the scan is done the more accurate it is for dating the pregnancy. Earlier on there is less discreptancy due to other factors such as genetics. (ie at 6 weeks most babys measure the same, at 20 weeks the range is much greater). That being said is greatly depends on the sonographer doing your ultrasound since a 2mm difference at 6 weeks can make a difference of about 4-6days. Only about 5% of all babies are delivered on their due date and that is not due to the ultrasound age but just on when baby wants to come out. Hope that helps! :)

Due dates are really fluid, especially the first 12 weeks. 12 weeks is supposed to be the best time to do an official dating scan.
Looking at a due date calculator for you, you would have supposedly ovulated on Jan 10th if your 10/16 due date is accurate, and that seems to line up with your cycle dates just fine. Some women just spot naturally the first few months when their periods are due, hormone levels are still fluctuating while the placenta is being built and taking over. It is also possible that you had a later than expected implantation in your January cycle (making the spotting on the 16th/17th actually implantation bleeding, rather than a true period) - however, this is more unlikely since the baby seems to be lining up size-wise with the Jan 10th date. Don't worry, your baby is growing fine!

they are correct give or take a couple days. my first daughter with the first scan it said june 4, with the gender scan it was may 30th. i had her june 2, 2011. the scans are generally correct it more has to do with your baby and when they want to come out.

I would say at your 10 week scan its more of a guesstimate, they are much more accurate at around 20 weeks gestation. Every baby grows differently too. At my first ultrasound at 9 weeks they measured him almost a week behind than what I thought he was. Then at 20 weeks they measured him two days behind my due date. Now at 36 weeks they are predicting him to have a birth weight of 8 pounds. Don't worry too much he's most likely just fine :) this happens all the time.
