Q: How effective is membrane stripping?

So my due date is today and no baby..as of yet. Went to the doctor this morning found out I'm 4 cm & 80% effaced. Doctor did a membrane sweep and is pretty positive this should put me into labour, but I'm a little doubtful probably because I went overdue and had to be Induced with my first pregnancy . How often does a membrane sweep actually put you into labour and if it does, is there is a certain time frame in which it works? Thanks.

I was swept with both of my last pregnancies, and it did nothing.

Don't know much about it (I had to Google it :-) LOL but I found this article. It seems that it really depends on your individual situation. I hope it works!!

I had my membranes swept with my first son midday and went into labour at 2 the next morning, but i was 6 days overdue so idk if it was the sweep or not! Good Luck!!
