every mc can be different for every woman , and if they have more than one each experience can be different, I had spotting for a few days between week 5 and 6 - it was never dark brown but I told the ER anyway and they booked me in for a vaginal scan, everything was fine, heartbeat seen - I did go onto mc at 11 weeks, but it had nowt to do with the spotting, quite a few women do have a brown discharge throughout pregnancy but still let your gp or midwife if you have one yet, know asap, just to be safe.

I had brown spotting from about 5 weeks until around 10 weeks (am now 16 weeks 3 days). I am sure it is fine, but you need to notify your doctor/OB of ANY spotting you might have. Just so they are aware.
