Q: Anyone here pregnant after a D&C? Or know someone who did get pregnant after one?

Doctor didn't say when we could TTC again...just said to not BD for 2 weeks after surgery. I've read conflicting things online...wait 2 cycles, wait 3 cycles, wait 4 cycles....ahhhh!

Anyone here with real-life experience??

I had a D&C March 23rd 2012. Doc told me to wait at least 2 cycles but I only waited one just to make sure my uterus lining came back and shed at least once. Got pregnant May 5th 2012 and everything is going good. I'm almost 31 weeks along and my baby girl is due January 25th 2013. My only regret is that I think my body needed a break. I had 2 miscarriages in a 7month period, so I had been constantly pregnant with short breaks between them. So this pregnancy is wearing me out but if I had waited I don't know if I could have handled it emotionally. So I think it depends alot on phycial and emotional readiness. Everybody is different. Sorry for your loss :(

i had my d&c on the 30th or august was waiting for aunt flo so i could try again and found out i was pregnant, i was orignianlly due in april now i am due in june.

my ob and practice nurse didnt mind nor my midwife, i had a early scan to work out dates (mind you im paranoid as anything)

you dont have to wait , but if you want to you can, keep takeing your prenatatal vitamins ect, stay healthy

(i spent 4 weeks drinking booze and eating ice cream after my d&c i was sad, not the heathyiest time at all to concieve)

I've had 2 D&C's and the doctors said to wait 3 months after both. I was further along (18 & 17 weeks) so I think that had something to do with it. Also, they wanted to make sure I was mentally ready before trying again. DH and I only waited 2 cycles after both D&C's because we felt ready. I got pregnant 4-6 months after each. I am now about 26 week pregnant and everything looks great! Good luck to you!

I have had a D&C as well, but we decided to wait 3 months. Not because we had to, but because I needed a break. I can explain a bit more about the reasons the doctors tell you to wait though.
After a D&C the lining of the uterus is usually a bit too thin for proper implantation the first month, but is back to normal the cycle after that. In addition, hormone levels need to rebalance, and you have lost a lot of blood. A pregnancy and D&C is tough for your body. That is why they advice you to wait al least one cycle before trying again. However, if you feel good, both mentally and physically, you don't need to wait. There is no increased risk of repeated miscarriage (as far as I know). HTH!

i had a d&c in march at 10 weeks. I bled for a week then got my period 4 weeks after the D&C. i had a cyst on my ovary so my doctor made me wait 1 cycle then come back for an ultrasound to make sure it was gone, then we could start trying again after my next period. So I had 1 full cycle after that in May then got pregnant in June. I'm 20 weeks and due in March!

Good luck..if you have questions, ask your doctor.

I had a D&C in April and was told to wait 2 weeks. I hemmoraged after my miscarriage which is why I needed one but afterwards I only bled for like 3 days. Got my period a month later and got pregnant 5 months later.

HI I had a D&C at 14 weeks and I was told to wait for one cycle as well however when that period came i knew someting was wrong and it turned out I had an infection from the D&C so obviously needed medication to treat it andw as not aloud to try for bub for the 2 weeks i was on it, got the all clear to try the day after I stopped taking it and we fell pregnant straight away! Im now just under 27 weeks with a healthy baby girl!

I was told to wait one cycle - I had my D&C on December 2nd 2011 I bled heavily till mid jan, got first period 21 jan to 24 jan, then they were very erratic they finally settled down back to the usual 28 day cycle in April, I got a positive in early june I am now 26 weeks .
I would say just wait till your cycle is back to normal or at least 1 or 2 cycles, just so u know everything is back to normal.
