Sadly no one can answer this question. For some they manage to conceive one the first attempt (or even others while using protection) for others they spends months and years trying first.
You're best bet is to eat and live healthy in hopes it happens soon. I have heard many stories of couples that try for a long time and are stressed and focussed on trying. Then they give up trying, feeling defeated, and next thing they know they are pregnant! So it is likely helpful for you to try and relax, try to refocus on something (else and keep your fingers crossed)! I'm sure that is way easier said than done though.
You say you have been trying for 6 months, I do not think that is too long to be concerned of. I'm sure it feels like forever and it painfully long though! Best of luck!
