Q: RH Factor

After having each of my kids I got the rogam shot, but now I have been TTC for 9 months and had three early losses (5 weeks). Did I need a shot again before trying??? And nobody told me? Have I had these miscarriages for nothing because my doctors were too stupid to not give me one?

I am RH- and I have had a few shots this pregnancy due to spotting, it took me 3 years to fall pregnant with at least 2 possible miscarriages. I never knew I was RH-, my doctor said u have to get the shot because after a miscarriage or spotting ur antibodies build up and attack the fetus, or if u miscarriage they attack the next fetus u conceive (it's a vicious cycle) I would defiantly say if u have had 3 miscarriages and not RH- shots then that could be causing the problem, I would defiantly bring it up with ur doctor.

If you are rh negative, you should always get the shot after a miscarriage, birth or spotting during pregnancy....I would definitely say that is what the problem is.

a specialist couldnt hurt! a friend of mine had 4 miscarriages,,after the last one she found out she had a weird shaped uterus, and depending on where the fetus attached, it didnt have enough room to grow. she has since had 2 healthy little boys :) i think it could be a number of different things, stay positive. best of luck to you!

you see I have been seeing a midwife, and she is usually pro all natural so she hasn't checked blood or done anything with my miscarriages, she just called it bad luck, but now I have had 3??. So I am switching to a specialist. what do you think?

i dont think that is the problem, usually when you are RH negative, they check your blood for signs of antibodies at the beginning of each pregnancy. unless you havnt been following up with your doctor before/during/ or after your pregnancies then i dont think thats the problem.

So I have needed one after each of my chemicals? Do you think this could be preventing me from having a successful pregnancy?

The rhogam shot works by preventing antibody formation. You wouldn't need one before TTC because you wouldn't have had any new exposure to RH factors.

I did get one after my chemical, just in case.
