Q: ;5 minutes apart contractions

Okay so today i had to go and have a stress done and it came out fine but they kept me for 3 hours cuz i was having contractions every 5 minutes and an hour before they let me go they were 4 minutes apart. So they checked me and said that my cervix was still closed. My question is because they r so consistent and still r hours later, could this be the start of early labor.? And how long should it be before they become painful.??

Personally I think it is the start of early labor, but it could be a while before they become painful. I started having the same problem at 36 weeks or so but I was only dilated to a 2 after a few hours so they sent me home. Two weeks later was when they became unbearable and I had him that day.
