Q: How can I get contractions started?

I am 5 cm dilated, 90% effaced, and my baby's head is very low, already at station 0. The hospital won't keep me because I'm not having consistent contractions and last time I was there after an hour my dilation hadn't changed. The nurse at the hospital was nice enough to strip my membranes but its been 41 hours since then and still nothing! I had some contractions last night but none were strong enough or regular enough to get me to the hospital and then they went away. I am being induced on Tuesday if I don't go on my own before then but I'm getting so anxious knowing how dilated I am and how low my baby's head is. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get contractions going?

You probably already had baby by now, but what worked for me was prenatal pilates for a week and bouncing on my exercise ball while I was watching TV. Good Luck!

Walk, sex, clean. Thats what I did with my first. And I dont see why they didnt keep you. I was at 4 cm 80 percent with my second. Contractions were very little but they kept me anyways because I was 4 cm. Good luck

The whole castor oil and baby pooping in the belly is a total myth. There is always a risk of your baby having a bowel movement in the belly weather you take casor oil or not. Many midwives still use and recommend it to over due and prolonge labour moms. But its probably best just to let nature do it. Walk a lot and having sex should help! Don't rush, baby will say hello when the little one is ready! Good luck momma!

Please dont take castor oil!! It can be very dangerous for baby!!! Because if mommy poops, baby can also poop and go into distress!!

Same exact situation with me. I took a tsp of castor oil and DD was born 2 hours later :). You may get the runs though (I did not), but just a heads up. If you take Castor oil, I promise you will have your baby today! Only if you feel comfortable though. Orgasms help too, so have a play day lol.
