Q: 30 weeks, already dilated??!

Hi ladies, this passed Saturday I was having abdominal pain so I went to L&D, while there they monitored me for an hour and seen I was having way too many braxton hicks for that hour that were hurting my back, they put me on an IV and gave me a pain medicine through it. They checked my cervix and said I'm dilated to a 1, they watched me for six hours and checked again and I was still at a 1. They gave me a percocet, told me my doctor wanted me to follow up on monday, and sent me home. I went to my doctor on Monday and they checked my cervix again and it's still 1cm, I have yet another appt this week for this (Wednesday) morning. They are going to give me a transvaginal ultrasound to see if I've dilated more, how short/long my cervix is, how soft, how much effaced and all that stuff. This is my first baby, ever. Is it normal to be dilated this early? Should I expect early baby? Has anyone been through this? I am going to request steroid shots, I will give an update later today!

Welllllll, my cervix has really shortened, when I cough the amniotic sac wants to try and come out, I'm on really strict bedrest until 36 weeks. I went and got the first round of the steroid shots to get her lungs matured faster, I'm still at a 1. Please hope this little girl stays in as long as possible. I go back to the doctor next week to see if anything has changed, I'm really worried. But Aubrey is doing wonderful, already looking around, she's so cute.â?¥

I went to labor and delivery like 3 weeks ago where they told me I was dilated to a 1CM. I was having real contractions 2-4 minutes apart and I was 33 weeks 3 days. Here I am 3 weeks later (36 weeks) and everything is fine, still have contractions but it's not making me dilate anymore. Doctor said I can expect my baby in 1 - 4 weeks but she thinks I'll carry him to my due date.
I wouldn't worry about it because if there was a really strong concern that you would go into labor they would probably have given you steroid shots for babys lung development before you left!
