Q: Anybody have experience with a doula?

So, my situation is as follows: My husband is set to deploy from mid October till mid February. I'll be full term Feb 20th. Since I'll be by myself (no family in the area) I'm considering getting a doula. My husband should be back like a week before full term, but don't really want to go through half of (my first) the pregnancy by myself. If anybody had any experiences with them, can you tell me what was included with the packages you got? I was hoping they'd attend birthing classes with me. Not sure if that is just being really needy. Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure if they would or not. I had a doula with my second and found it super helpful to manage the pain etc. I met with her a few times during the pregnancy just to talk etc and then she was with me my whole labor and delivery until I got settled in my post partum room. I loved having one and wish I would have done it the first time. I'm sure if you call around you could find someone to meet your needs. Good luck to you!
