Q: Is there a difference between passing your "mucus plug", and "bloody show"?
I passed my mucus plug two days ago. It was mostly clear with a little light pink color. Yesterday evening I started having menstrual like cramping. At 10pm, I had "bloody show". (Looks the same as the mucus plug, except it is tinged with blood). I have been passing more of it today also. I have read some articles that say that it is the same thing. I have read other articles that say that the "bloody show" is due to a rupturing of membranes and that you are dilating and that labor is usually one or two days away. This is my first experience with this. Has anyone experienced either one? Does anyone know if they are the same thing, or if the "bloody show" is a better predictor of labor being closer than just passing the mucus plug? I had strong contractions all night last night, but they never got any closer than 10 minutes. I am cramping still and pretty much miserable at this point. Any input is appreciated! This question was asked Aug. 30, 2013 1:50pm
