Q: Miscarriage at 6 weeks - Feel clueless and lost

I got my BFP on 9/17. This was confirmed with blood test, but my HCG was low. It did rise however, and at 5 weeks was at 151. On Friday, I had my 1st ultrasound appointment at 6w1d. Unfortunately, we didn't see anything and the Dr ordered another HCG level, hoping we were just too early and the HCG wasn't high enough yet - but down to 91.

I had brown spotting Friday through Saturday. On Sunday, I woke up with cramps and shortly after, started bleeding. I am having moderate amount of bleeding, with clots (usually small pieces, but have had 2 big, maybe quarter size pieces).

I guess I am just confused ... when do I consider my miscarriage? The day I started bleeding? Do you not start bleeding until your HCG is 0 (could it have dropped that fast)?

I am supposed to start taking Femara again starting tomorrow (CD3) I guess I'm confused because everything I read says you have to wait one cycle .. which I'm not. Is this because I miscarried so early?

What has been your experience?

I do believe it is the first day of your bleeding. So sorry for your loss, it is devastating. I conceived the month after my D&C, no period in between and he's now getting himself ready for school :)

Hi, I had my daughter at 33 weeks she was still born, 6 weeks later we conceived and by 2 weeks after that we miscarried, we were 4-5 weeks along, mine started as spotting then gradually got heavier, all the blood was dark almost black, it took 7 days to pass everything, the next cycle after that was a not a normal period and only lasted 2-3 days of spotting, then on my cycle I never got as I conceived and am currently 15 weeks, I never actually had a proper period in between and still ovulated regularly I conceived this pregnancy 3 months after having my daughter., my doctor said they only recommended waiting to give u a chance to heal emotionally, I went in for a number of scans and checks in between all of this and my specialist said my overies and uterus looked healthy and prepared, my daughter had a genetic issues so we believe that is the reason for the miscarriage.

Hello Heather. I am sorry for your loss. Unfortunately, I was just in a similar situation, my mc "started" Aug 16th. My HCG was also low, and slow rising. I got my HCG checked the day of my miscarriage, it got the highest it ever got that day and was a little over 1500, at 8 weeks. The 16th was a Friday and I had been spotting the whole week before that, dark discharge. I count the 16th because I physically and emotionally felt everything pass that night. I hope you do not have to go through any pain! Hopefully because your levels are where they are you won't. Anyway, I bled for about 5 days after that, and on the 6th or 7th day after, my levels were back down to 0 or >5. My husband and I were not careful during the time after, and just got a BFP Sept 27th. :) I have heard many reasons why doctor's want you to wait, I think mainly it is for emotional healing, especially if you didn't get too far along. I have my first appointment next Monday, and we are staying very positi
