Q: Missed abortion???

I'm in the ER with a missed abortion. What is the difference between a missed abortion and a missed miscarriage ?? Are they the same thing?

This happened to me as well , I have had two healthy children since , I am currently 5+ weeks and still dread the ultrasound. AsI found out at 12 weeks into my pregnancy it had died inside. Huge devastating shock , I wish you all the best !! I am proof you can have a healthy baby after :)

Same thing. The baby dies and the body doesnt remove it right away. My baby died at 6w 5d and I was shocked to find out at my 10wk appointment that I had a baby with no heartbeat that had been sitting dead inside me for almost 4 weeks. It was awful.

I hope you recover quickly and can try again soon. I am no 5w 4d pregnant and terrified of having another missed miscarriage. (same thing as missed abortion)

Really sorry for your loss, I've been through that before and it was extremely hard to accept and get over. I'm still not over it and mine happened in May of 2011. Everything will be ok in time though. Just make sure to grieve properly and try when both you and your partner are ready. Everything happens for a reason.

I'm an RN and in the medical field miscarriage and abortion are the same thing. An abortion is defined as a pregnancy that ends before 20 weeks. I'm sorry to hear that you lost your baby.

The medical term for a miscarriage is spontaneous abortion, they are the same thing. Sorry for ur loss! =((

I have never heard of a missed abortion. When I have been to the ER during the first trimester however, they diagnose with a threatened abortion. This is when they have found nothing wrong and baby was fine. Maybe thats what they mean by missed abortion? I'm sorry I don't know. I hope everything is okay!

I'm pretty sure they are the same thing. I miscarried before and the ER doctors called it a spontaneous abortion.
