Q: Labor starting??

So today I am 39w+3 and since last night I have been cramping on and off. Last week when I was at the doctors office I was 3cm 70% and he said my babies head was fully engaged. He didn't think I'd make it past the weekend but here I am....I have been going to the bathroom a lot today, not loose BMs but I haven't went this much in a day my entire pregnancy and the cramping is in my back and belly...just like menstral cramps, my upper thighs ache and its like I'm cramping in my vagina or cervix also lol. I am contracting frequently but I have been for a while. I am a FTM and I don't wanna rush to hospital only to be sent home, but has this happened to anyone and it was real labor? How long should I wait until I go to hospital? I have a Dr appt tomorrow so I'm trying to hold off.

My doctor has always told me when contractions are 5 minutes apart, lasting for 60 seconds each, and have been going on consistently like that for 1 hour it is definitely time to head to the hospital, OR if my water broke.
I went to the hospital way too early with my first pregnancy, but I was having consistent PAINFUL contractions, so I thought it was the real thing. 2 days later I gave birth lol.
