Q: 2 Sacs, one with heartbeat, the other one just with a yolk sac at 6 weeks, what to expect next?

I had my ultrasound at what should of been 7 weeks but I measured on 6 weeks, nothing suprising, I have a 30-31 day cycle and I also ovulate later. However, I had two sacs (exciting, I never seen that before) - one sac was bigger and had a heartbeat - 112 and the other one was small and looked empty and the tech moved the wand around a little and we saw a nice define yolk sack. She said because of the size different she doesn't think it will turn into anything - I am not sure if this is what they say just to not get your hopes up or what, but she did schedule a second ultrasound, as she said "to prove she is right?" however, she did say since the one with the heart beat was measuring 6 weeks - the other could be to small to see anything and a few days behind. But the size of the sac still makes her think it will be a vanishing twin. So what do you think? Should I expect to see another heartbeat? She I just ride the singleton train and be surprised that there is two when I go

I had the same situation on my ultrasound when I was 6w1d. There were two sacs, two yolks but only one heartbeat. They made me come back two weeks later and then I was able to see two heartbeats :) Now I'm pregnant with twins. One is a little bit smaller, but my doctor explained that this could be the reason we couldn't the the heartbeat at 6 weeks. It's normal, it can happen. Now I'm 9 weeks, and I hope everything will be fine.

It could go either way. I had that happen to a close friend. When she went back a week later, the second sac had vanished. Vanishing twins is very common. However, it is possible that it is simply lagging a few days behind & you're having fraternal twins. Time will tell.
