I feel so much better hearing all this. What a relief to know it really is a common thing, albeit a nuisance to receive the antibiotics. I have to receive antibiotics anyways during all surgical procedures and anything associated with blood due to a heart condition....so I knew I was getting antibiotics anyways for that....but my heart condition doesn't harm the baby during delivery where the Group B might. Just glad it is common and there is immediate treatment available in the hospital if needed!! (which won't happen....trying to think positive!!)

I had it with my first. It was no biggie, just IV antibiotics before my c-section. My daughter had no complications, she is now 2

I had it with my last one 10 years ago. I actually had water rupturing for over a week (thought I was weeing myself) I had an emergency section as he was breach and it was the baby that ended up having the antibiotics. He was totally fine so please don't panic. Just be glad you found out :)

I had it with first two so most likely with this one too but I find out Monday. I keep hoping I don't just because of the antibiotics although that is better than the alternative risks to the baby. (Trying to do as little medicine as possible). You'll be fine but it does suck to be "diagnosed" with it.

Its actually very common. I had it with my son. It just means you will be on antibiotics during labor and delivery. No worries at all. :-)

hey i had gbs and had anti-biotics once my waters broke. my son is now 3 weeks old on tuesday and he hasnt got sick at all. the medicine protects baby and roughly only 15% of women are gbs positive and thats a fair bit of women.

It's not a big deal....with antibiotics the transmission rate is VERY low. I had it with my first and got the antibiotics and it was fine. My midwife this time around let me know alternatives if I do test positive again.
If the baby does get it, it CAN be serious.
