Q: Delivery cost at Birthing Centers/Homes in the US

Hi ladies.
For those living in the Unites States or those in the know, how much does delivery cost if the baby is born in a birthing center by midwives? I know hospitals are crazy expensive especially without insurance but apart from that, I kinda prefer the birthing homes cuz they are more into natural births and listen more to what the mother's body is saying as compared to hospitals with their confinement to beds during labor and strict routines.

Anyone with any ideas on the cost please? Thanks

I believe the birth center here in Kansas City was about $7,000

Hi RedBetty,

We have our first due in August/September and will be delivering at a birth center in Delaware. The pre-auth they did with the insurance company was somewhere in the $4-5,000 range and 100% covered by my insurance, so I believe it is significantly less expensive that the hospital. I absolutely agree with your reasoning and that was why we went the birth center route as opposed to the hospital, the cost savings is just an added benefit! Best of luck!
