Q: Losing mucus plug at 34 weeks

So I am 34 weeks today and I have stared to lose pieces of my mucus plug. I was joking with my husband today that I am nesting because I had an urge to pack hospital bags today and start finishing the nursery. I know none of this means labor will definitely happen, but I guess I am wondering what should I do and should I expect anything? There was no blood present at all, I have no pains as of right now and this didn't happen with my first. I went into labor with him at 40 + 6 and didn't lose anything until I had started labor and had my "show" should I call the doctor? Should I worry at all? Does this mean I may not go over with this one? Any and all advice/ answers welcome. Thanks ladies!

I lost some of mt mucus plug around 33 weeks, I had my baby 34+3 weeks. He was 2630gms, a good size for a premmie. We stayed in hospital for 2 weeks while he learnt to suck feed. We have bee home 2 weeks now and everything is perfect. Good luck x

I called the office and the nurse said as long as I have passed 30 weeks, that she is moving ok and that there isn't excessive blood that I am good to go! I was kind of nervous at first, I would love to have her before her due date but not preterm that is for sure. But now I am pretty excited! I am hoping to have her around 38 weeks as well, but with my first experience I learned to not expect anything. However, it does seem more likely now :)

You can lose your plug many weeks before labor begins and nesting can happen at any time too. It's definitely a pre-labor sign but pre-labor can last for weeks before labor begins. However, it is definitely a notable note and it would be best to at least call your doctor's office and leave a message with your doctor's nurse that it happened. How exciting, I'm 33+3 and I'm definitely on guard for any pre-labor signs myself! Bet we'll go around the same time, hopefully a little closer to 38-40 weeks. Exciting times!

I would contact your doctor he/she is the best person to advise you. The last thing you want is to go into labour at 34 weeks and have a prem baby. Nothing may happen but something may. It's worth a call to let your doctor know at least.
