Q: Which baby carrier is your favorite and why?

I know this is very much about personal preference, but I am curious what carriers people like to carry their kids around in and why. Also to know if you changed preferences as the child grew older.

Right now I have a Beco Gemini, Moby Wrap, Hotsling a friend gave me, and a coworker may be giving me an Ergo.

Also curious what your partner liked, if any. My husband is 6'4 and quite broad-chested. :)

I love the Moby wrap! Around week 3 when baby was super colicky and only happy when she was being carried around, it was the only way I could get anything done around the house. She loved being in it and fell quiet as soon as I slipped her in it. It is also a good way to get lots of skin to skin if you wear a low cut shirt and let baby's fast rest against your chest.

Team Tula here!! Any structured carrier is good! Make sure you get one that makes them have the natural froggy/M position and not a crutch dangler! Tulas are so pretty and are very comfy!

Absolutely couldn't have done without the Ergo. We used it for long hikes and short walking tours. I got a size small for me and wore it around the house to get chores done post-partum. We got an infant insert so we could use it right away. Cameron almost always fell asleep in it. There was even enough room in the straps for my husband to wear it occasionally. He's not that big though, only about 4 inches taller than me. I asked for and received a sling. I tried it a couple times, but couldn't make it work. It was not enough support for a squishy tiny baby. I worried about his posture and breathing.

We also took a babywearing class and BOTH fell in love with the woven wrap when we tried it! There's a bit of a learning curve but baby feels SO secure once it's tightened properly. Plus there is an almost infinite number of carries you can do with a wrap and barely any weight limit. I also found, now that I'm pregnant, that the wrap allows me to carry my baby without having anymore bothersome strap or pass on my belly.

For quick trips out and about and for travelling though, we got an ergobaby which we also love for how quick it is. We got it when baby was 4 months and still use it now that he's 20 months old!

My third baby carrier is a ring sling, which I got when baby was 11 months old and already quite heavy, so I've never been able to use it for a long period of time. I'm not too fond of asymetrical carries, so it's the carrier I reach for the least often, but it's still very useful when baby won't be put down while I get ready with the ergo or the wrap.

I personally love Tula! It's soooo comfortable and adjust to EVERY body. My partner is 270 lbs so finding something that fit him that was comfortable was a must. I'm a lot smaller than him and I can just adjust the straps and wear dd around too! The best part about a Tula is that they make two different sizes (infant and toddler) infant are from 3month- at least 1.5- 2 years and toddler is from 3 years up to five (of course that depends on the size of your child) another great thing about Tula is they have a GREAT resale value. They are a little more pricey then the regular baby carrier but you can sell for close to the same as what you paid!! They are Amazing! :)

We did a class called "Bringing Baby Home" where, as part of the class, we got to try out a bunch of different carriers. We were all given dolls that were size and weight appropriate for a 3 month old to test them out. It was a really good experience and one I'd recommend if you have something similar in your area.

My hubby and I found that we both liked the same one but a lot of couples in the class weren't the same - depending on body type, height, etc a lot of couples ended up deciding to get two different carriers.

The one that we really liked is made by Maman Kangarou - a local company for us (http://www.mamankangourou.com/en/product/asiatik--mei-tai-type). It's very similar to the Boba Wrap but isn't made of stretchy material.
