Q: Delayed Cord clamping??

I am starting to do research into delayed cord clamping and natural birth. I did neither with my son, and I would like to do things a little different this time around. Has anyone delayed cord clamping with their previous babies? How long did you delay for? Was it difficult to get the doctors and nurses on board
with the idea??

Thanks!

I delayed the cord clamping with my youngest son. My OB was perfectly happy to wait. We waited until the cord stopped pulsating before clamping and cutting. I will be doing it again when this baby is born, barring any unforeseen circumstances.

If you really want to do it - and it is now highly recommended here in Europe - then I would say to make it part of your birth plan. If your Doctor refuses to go along with your wishes, then they're not the right Doctor for you in my opinion. Normal delay here is until the cord stops pulsing.
