Q: Opt out of the traumatic pushing of my organs out after birth? :)

I've done a lot of reading on this..asked a few of you ladies from other countries also.(which all said hell no!! this didn't happen to them)..With my first daughter the hospital I gave birth at did not "massage" my uterus. My second baby..the pushed my guts out every 30mins for the first few hours..then a ridiculous amount of times after all the way up until I was ready to leave 24hrs later. Now..this procedure is not done to get placenta out...this is done to make uterus firm back up (or down..:)) to size. I find it to be worthless and more pain then necessary. I lived once without it..no complications..and I breast feed so that makes my uterus contract on its own..I would like to hear your story and did you get this done..or not..what was the outcome of either getting it done..or not getting done..are you fine..would you do it again..are you opting to let your body do what your body does naturally..Let me hear it girls.

I've never even heard of that. My OB massaged my uterus from the outside since my uterus wasn't clamping down and I was bleeding a lot. But he didn't do all that. I would definitely opt out of whatever that is. That sounds terrible.

Thanks girls..I told my husband about this new find and he thinks I should let them do it atleast once or twice..because he saw what came out..The thing is..I feel as though they do this to hurry the process that will happen on its own.. I am so serious when I say..when they did this..it was more painful then labor itself. They literally pushed my stomach area all the way down to the bed..NO JOKE! and rolled their fist around my uterus. It was traumatic.

I agree...this wasn't done to me and i also felt the contractions during breast feeding and i back to normal within 5 weeks. I would opt out for sure.
