Q: Confused about what I should be looking for

Hi all. 39 weeks today. Had 1st sweep yesterday and was only 1cm dilated and baby only at -3 station. Cervix medium soft but midwife managed a sweep no problem and wasn't sore. Anyway had bleeding straight after for about 5 hrs which then stopped. Had sex last night which started bleeding again and it's now just light brown spotting. Is this bleeding a show or just a sweep side effect? Had period cramps this morning every 10 mins which last an hour then stopped and not much today. Been on ball lots. Does anyone think the sweep will work? Is bleeding a good sign? I know I've still got a week to go but I lost my last baby at 18 weeks pg and im just desperate to meet this little one.

Only the baby knows when he or she is coming but having 4 kids...i do feel that the sweep may have caused some bleeding and upset because it does disrupt the cervix.I have had sweeps done in the past and they caused cramping and a lil spotting.then i noticed that because things were irritated that braxton hicks would be more frequent.either way your baby will come when its ready, the last weeks are the hardest but you are so close.if you want to help ripen your cervix to make it more cooperative with dilating then your partners sperm has prostaglandins in it that is used in tablets that are often inserted next to the cervix at the beginning of an induction.once he finishes inside you could prop a pillow under your bottom and lay there for as long as you can.It could help things along.Good luck!
