Q: Possible 2nd baby

I went in for an ultrasound to determine how far along I am yesterday. The ultrasound tech did a vaginal ultrasound and when we saw the baby she was like oh yeah there is the baby then she stayed quiet and looked and looked and quiet and was looking and looking and that made me nervous so I asked her if everything was ok or if something was wrong and she said oh everything is just fine and stayed quiet and looked again and finally said I think there is 2 babies. Then she had me go empty my bladder some more she had been looking for some time then when she looked she yes! There they are there is two!! And she saw 2 heartbeats. And I also saw two babies then she looked some more then she said oh no there is only one. So now I'm sonfused she said she confused the eyes as another heartbeat. Is that possible? Can twins hide? What do you think? I'm so confused and don't know what to think now. Should I disregard what she said about 2 babies or keep in mind that there is a possibility? Help!!

Thank you for letting me know, I will be making an appointment as soon as I switch my insurance so that I can go to the same office I went to with my 1 1/2 year old. I am trying not to get my hopes up, but on the other hand my grandmother is a twin and there are twins on my fathers side of the family and my brother and his girlfriend had been pregnant with twins but unfortunately she lost them. And since that never cossed my mind as a possibility it has me confused because I walked in not imageing that that would even be a possibility or even expecting it to be a possibility, I don't think that I could be pregnant with twins. For me it's one of those things when you think to yourself, NO, THAT COULD NOT HAPPEN TO ME. Well, I will be patient and try not to think so much. Thank you and I will update as soon as I get an answer.

If the twins are identical twins in the same sac (mono mono twins) or if they have their own sacs (modi twins), it is definitely possible for it to be difficult to determine. Hope you get some more clarity on your next ultrasound. I went in for an u/s at 7 weeks and there was one baby. At 9 weeks, there were two. They were mono mono twins and I ended up losing them at 18 weeks, as that type of pregnancy is the most high-risk type of twin pregnancy. Hope that isn't the case for you. Good luck.

I most definately go get a second look but I think I will wait a little longer so that I am a little more further along. That did not even cross my mind ever at all and just the fact that I was there for about an hour and she thought she saw something in my opinion had to be almost certain there is another baby, I don't think it is that easy to mistake something like that and I think something made her look that hard. I'm just so confused but I am just taking in the possibility and I will wait and if yes I will be very happy and nervous and if no at least I know 1 baby is there. Thank you for your responses :)

Twins can definitely hide. I would get a second opinion.
