We are having a baby girl. A sweet and perfect baby girl! I am going to have a daughter!! I am going to be a mother! Ahhh!! I am so excited!! So we were both so nervous going into the scan appointment. Both of us were so worried they would find an abnormality. We didn't know eachother were fearing that until afterwards. Once we knew everything was appearing normal he said he was nervous things wouldn't be normal and I said me too. Luckily our baby is the picture of health!!! So the scan all in all lasted about an hour. They measured everythin measurable, from length of the legs to circumference of the belly. All the organs were measured and blood flow and what not. I was watching intently the whole time and didn't see a weiner so I am assuming it was a girl. Then the tech confirmed it! She said looking at the gender I see three lines. I said, its a girl? She said yep! Jeff asked what the margin of error was and she said she was pretty certain. The tech left and had me get undressed from the waist down so they could do a transvaginal u/s to check my cervic. They wanted to make sure it was holding up ok since I had laser vaporization of the cervix about 3 years prior. It was long and closed - thank goodness! Anyway, when the tech left I looked and Jeff and he looked like he'd been punched in the stomach. I immediately teared up and apologized to him. I know we both assumed it would be a boy since his family seems to make boys. One brother has a boy and a girl, the other has 2 boys, and his dad and his brothers all had 3 boys.. so it was safe to assume it was a boy. He told me it would just take some time getting used to. He said a couple times he's just scared to have a teenage daughter. Poor guy. I am sooooo thrilled I got my girl but I feel horrible for Jeff. I was really hoping he'd get excited when we found out the gender but I always assumed it'd be a boy so he'd be excited.
We stopped at the grocery store and drug store after my apponitment to grab a pumpkin and paints so I could do my annoucement photo. I'll attach it. We also looked for a baby names book but the grocery stores don't carry them anymore. Bummer. We'll grab one this weekend. So I wanted to tell my mom first but she wasn't home and Jeff insisted on telling my parents together so we had to wait until she got home. So we told his mom first and she was sure it was going to be a boy so she was SO excited to have another grand daughter. She of course cried and said she can't wait to take me shopping - yay!! We then told my older sister in law since she had texted for an update. Then we told my older but not quite as old sister in law and she was super happy too of course. Once we got home and my mom got home we were finally able to tell my parents and they were both thrilled. I think they were hoping I'd have a boy first since they had a boy first but I think they are coming around to the idea of a grand daughter :) I texted other friends and family and finished my annoucement photo. I think it turned out pretty good since I am the most uncreative person I know.
It was an exhausting and emotional day. I am just so happy to have a healthy baby girl and cannot wait until we decide on a name and she is here!!!!!!
