Exposed to toxic fume... furious
By HzlGreenEyes » Posted Jun. 17, 2015 2:03pm - 311 views - 5 comments

I am so pissed right now at my boss. I work in an office by myself running the office for a lawn irrigation company. I know that he uses apoxy and solvents for repairing water pumps. I went to dump my office garbage into a larger garbage container in the shop and I inhaled very strong toxic fumes that smelled like Acetone. I asked my boss what he threw away in the garbage in the shop and he told me it was primer that he uses to fuse pvc piping.... I was FURIOUS. I told him I have a hard enough time keeping calm in this pregnancy and told him to THINK next time and throw that stuff outside, not in the garbage inside. I am so paranoid that the amount that I inhaled is going to affect this pregnancy. I am going to tell him that if he needs to work in the shop with that stuff, he needs to give me warning so that I can work from home. I don't need to get exposed to this crap. I got myself so worked up that my blood pressure made me slightly dizzy. Careless.

Yeah I definitely would have flipped out!! =/ Some people really just don't stop to think about things. I had that problem when I was working during my last pregnancy because no one I worked with had kids and most of them were younger than me. There were a lot of times when they were putting me in a harmful situation because they didn't think about the fact that I was pregnant.

Yes I did tell him because I have doctor appts scheduled 1 day each week starting June 26 and didn't want him worrying something was wrong. He should know better... but sometimes I wonder why he does the things he does. I guess that is men in general!

I would be pissed too! Does he know yet that you're pregnant?

No excuses, but a lot of men (even women) don't think about things like that. My own mother thought I was a psycho for staying away from cigarette smoke and artificial sweeteners. You're right, he didn't think. It's especially hard because you are worrying and on edge, rightfully so. I hope everything from here on out goes smoothly!
