My Due Date: July 24, 2014I have given birth!

Dr Appointment Week 36! (Almost 37)

First things first. Total weight gain the past two weeks: 3 lbs. That puts me up to a grand total of 10 lbs! Not too shabby, if I don't say so myself! He came in to talk with us first about the u/s they did when we first got there. They are estimating her to be around 6lb 10oz right now. So, she is more on the average size side of the scale now, rather than a little smaller. She is continuing to grow and gain weight like she should be! We discussed the possibility/scheduling of the csection and we planned to make the day official today. Then, he stepped out to grab the nurse so he could check me and swab me for Group B Strep. After the swab, he started digging around in there and poking and prodding from left to right and top to bottom - not the most comfortable thing for me, might I add. It was quite icky and uncomfortable! Not quite painful, but still. I could tell he had something on his mind after he finally plucked what felt like his fist out of my nether region! So, I sat up and the nurse left and he began to talk about how I had CHANGED down there. It wasn't as tight and hard feeling as the last time he checked me! Last time he felt as though I was pretty bone tight, and today he says I've "widened up" a good bit and softened up. My cervix is getting a lot softer, but I'm not dilated any yet. (Good news, since my mom doesn't come in til next weekend!)
So! He has changed his mind and thinks that there is a greater possibility that we can deliver vaginally instead of just opting straight for a csection! He says since he works with a bunch of women that he reserves his right to change HIS mind. Lol! He wants to see how things go and if nothing has happened by 39 weeks we can induce and he wants to see how labor progresses! I AM FREAKING OUT just a little! I was so set on csection that I pretty much put vaginal birth out of my head completely! But, I would rather have a quicker recovery without the surgery if possible. Even with the thought of pushing out a possible 8 lb baby through my lady parts while everyone watches and stands around. I have never liked an audience! Ha! I guess I may feel different once the time comes! :)
The u/s lady was also kind enough to give us a few 4D pictures since when we were getting her weight measurements she was in such an awesome position for 4D! We got a few REALLY great shots of her beautiful face! I can't wait to meet her! <3

I am so cranky and bitchy! I want to know if things are progressing down there, but if they aren't, I DON'T want to know. I'm hard to please these days. :) |
