Feb 28, 2018: Why, boobs, why?
By Alioth » Posted Feb. 28, 2018 10:35am - 160 views - 0 comments

So last night, I was having fiery boob pain of death, chills, nausea, aches, and went to bed really early. This morning while drinking my coffee, I felt a sudden dampness in my shirt. My right boob apparently leaked a dime-sized spot of smelly clear liquid onto my shirt. O__O; I'm so horrified! I checked the shawl over it. It was dry. No more liquid happened. But it's so bizarre. Also, my nipples are super dark and round today. If I squeeze one, it comes out clear. If I squeeze the other, a thick white substance comes out. ;__;

After some online research, I've realized that this is normal around 20 weeks, but can also happen in 1st trimester. It's pre-milk or colostrum. I thought this only happened right before baby is born, but I was wrong! I think I will make a trip to Walmart for some bra pad inserts today. It would be really embarrassing if this happened at work.

The good news, is that early leakage of colostrum is associated with an abundant milk supply, even enough to feed twins. Besides wearing breast pads, one way to stop random leaks is to express breast milk manually so breasts don't become over full. Also, a lot of women have sore or tinging breasts as a symptom before it happens, warning them in advance of a leak. I need to pay attention to my body.

Baby has been really active too. I can feel her bumping around down there several times a day now. Yesterday, I got kicked pretty hard in the bladder too, which was not a pleasant experience. The extra movement is both unsettling and exciting. I have mixed feelings about it.
